Director Jeremy Seifert struck gold with his first film, DIVE!, a prize-winning low-budget doc about the wisdom of putting waste to use in a second life. To make his second movie, GMO OMG, Seifert took his family with him on a journey to explore the proliferation of GMOs in the global food supply, with a modicum of Michael Moore-style sass and a personal, father’s point of view.
Over the course of the film, he dresses himself and his kids in hazmat gear to walk through a field of genetically engineered corn, and his sons play a major role throughout the fact-finding voyage, which traveled to Haiti, Paris, Norway and the lobby of the Monsanto corporate offcies in St. Louis. Did Seifert make his case? Decide for yourself at tonight’s 7 p.m. screening of GMO OMG at the Sie FilmCenter, 2510 East Colfax Avenue; Seifert will be in the house to answer questions after the show. Admission ranges from $7 to $10; visit denverfilm.org or call 720-381-0813 for more information.
