Comic Dave Attell offers this philosophical stumper: "Which would you rather have: A butler, an ice sculpture of your own ass, a baby pool full of Skittles, or $100?"
"Huh?" I reply, wondering if this question was actually rhetorical.
"C'mon man! The 100 bucks!" exults Attell over the phone from California.
"And what would you do with the $100?" I ask, thinking I would've chosen the candy.
"All I need are booze, smokes and some pizza," he sighs -- sustenance easily purchased with a C-note.
Such simple cravings are at the heart of Attell's humor, and the New Yorker will draw upon these sources when he hits the Fillmore Auditorium, 1510 Clarkson Street, at 8 p.m. tonight with Dave Attell: The Insomniac Tour. The show will most likely use material derived from his hit Comedy Central show Insomniac, which features Attell getting smashed with locals in bars around the country.
So far, the formula has worked. Throw in a few burgers and a camera crew, and let the debauchery begin. Of course, Attell can't guarantee a wild night at every stop on his journey. "I can't even begin to tell you the number of nights we have spent walking around a city with absolutely nothing going on," he says.

No Need for Panic

There is no such thing as too many jam bands.
If you agree with that statement, then you probably scored some tickets for Widespread Panic at Red Rocks before they sold out. You'll also be looking for something to do when the Panic dies down and it's time to head to the next party.
That bash could be the third annual Rocky Mountain Power Jam. This year, it's at Cervantes' Masterpiece Ballroom and the adjacent Quixote's (2637 Welton Street), offering two rooms of psychedelic rock madness. The jam starts tonight at 11 p.m. with Mama's Cookin' and Robert Walter and the 20th Congress at Quixote's; Eric McFadden & Friends will kick off the night at Cervantes', followed by collaboration between eleven top musicians, including Vernon Reid, Robert Walter and Wally Ingram. The bash is sponsored by the Flying Dog Brewery. Tickets are $10 for Quixote's only, $20 for Cervantes' only, and $25 for the smorgasbord of both rooms.
