In 1916, now a widow, Mary sold Elitch Gardens to Denver businessman John Mulvihill, starting four generations of family ownership. In 1995, Elitch moved to a new home in the Central Platte River Valley near downtown Denver while its original site became a new housing neighborhood. And soon this location will meet the same fate: The property is slated to be developed, with the amusement park again moving on to an undetermined spot. This season, though, it will celebrate its thirtieth anniversary in its current home.
