Your Guide to Denver's Free Night at the Museums

In collaboration with Denver Arts Week, seventeen museums are open with free admission for the evening of November 2.

In collaboration with Denver Arts Week, seventeen of the area's museums are open for Night at the Museums, with free admission from 5 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, November 2. If you want to explore multiple museums, free shuttles are available in that same time frame; on various stops you can see full dinosaur skeletons, soak up fine art, learn about the heritage of the Americas and so much more. Denver Night at the Museums Guide


Center for Colorado Women's History
1310 Bannock Street
With a focus on the stories and memories of women in Colorado, the Center for Colorado Women's History is an inspiring look into a once overlooked past. Located in a historic home built in 1883, this time capsule takes visitors through a long-lost era with powerful narration from the women who lived through it.

General hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Children's Museum of Denver at Marsico Campus
2121 Children's Museum Drive
Oriented toward families and Denver youth, the Children's Museum at Marsico Campus has opportunities to explore, imagine, investigate and create. With exhibits and educators ready to talk science, nature or art, this experience is a stimulating and thoughtful way to keep kids playing and learning.

General hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.

The Clyfford Still Museum

Clyfford Still Museum

Nine full galleries of works by Clyfford Still are preserved together in a building designed by architect Brad Cloepfil, which opened as the Clyfford Still Museum in 2011. This collection holds 93 percent of Still's works and is a peaceful getaway from life in the busy city.

General hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday.

Counterterrorism Education Learning Lab (CELL)
99 West 12th Avenue
With a focus on global security and the politics of terrorism, the CELL provides an educational deep dive into the complexities of modern safety. Multimedia exhibits examine the ways in which opinions or views can lead to extremist movements and physical consequences. This thought-provoking journey is provided to help visitors stay informed and engage with the ongoing moral debates of our planet.

General hours include group tours on Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. or Thursday  from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., and general admission on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Denver Art Museum
100 West 14th Avenue Parkway
Founded in 1893 as a Denver Artist's Club, the Denver Art Museum is home to more than 70,000 works of art and a historical landmark for the city. With multiple connected buildings and striking architecture, this global collection brings pieces of every corner of the world together and takes visitors back through centuries of artistic expression.

General hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

Denver Firefighters Museum

Celebrating those who keep our communities safe, the Denver Firefighters Museum provides a peek into the lives and activities of firefighters here in Denver. With programs, field trips and fire safety courses, this museum helps all visitors stay educated and safe.

General hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

With more than 100 years of showcasing history and science to the people of Denver, the Museum of Nature & Science is a treasure trove of all things space, dinosaurs and animals. Visitors can explore the dioramas of every climate, watch blue whales on the big screen or dive into a virtual-reality experience of the deep sea. With educators and performers present to answer questions or enhance an exhibit, this experience will ignite any visitor's desire to learn.

General hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

Dinosaur Ridge and Morrison Natural History Museum

Located on the Front Range just outside Denver is an opportunity to explore what lies underneath the Rocky Mountains. Dinosaur Ridge is home to fossils and ancient tracks that can be observed along a walking path with guided tours.
The exposed nature of this experience can make for rather specific hours, but guided bus tours are available daily from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. along with an exhibit hall open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.

Meanwhile, the Morrison Natural History Museum is a paleontological museum, where scientists and researchers gather to look back into what existed long before humans made Colorado their home. It is open daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There are guided tours, fossil exhibits and much more to explore. (Note that these two locations will not be on the shuttle route, but they're still worth the drive.)

Forney Museum of Transportation
4303 Brighton Boulevard
With more than 800 artifacts all telling the story of transportation through time, the Forney Museum of Transportation is an immersive look into the technological evolution of Denver. Everything from motorcycles to sleighs are preserved in this collection and on display for visitors to explore.

General hours are 10 a.m to 5 p.m. Thursday through Monday.

Step back in time at Four Mile Historic Park.
Four Mile Historic Park
Four Mile Historic Park
715 South Forest Street
Four Mile Historic Park comprises twelve acres of land that allows visitors to experience a step back in time to Denver's beginnings. With one of the city's oldest buildings still standing as its museum, Four Mile staff provide interactive exhibits and artifacts about life in the American West.

General hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday.

Freyer-Newman Center at Denver Botanical Gardens

Nestled into the lush Denver Botanical Gardens, the Freyer-Newman Center is home to art galleries, the Helen Fowler Library and natural-history collections that include tens of thousands of dried specimens. The Sturm Family Auditorium is currently hosting a collaboration between artist Nathan Hall and floral designer Arthur Williams to showcase the endless possibilities when combining art and fauna.

General hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.

History Colorado Center

Highlighting the state's complex and layered history, History Colorado Center is brimming with artifacts, stories and art. Designed specifically for multi-generational audiences, the four floors of exhibits have many interactional and educational elements. This location is home to several speaker series and insightful history from the Cheyenne and Arapaho tribes.

General hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
MCA Denver

The Museum of Contemporary Art Denver is the meeting point of all things high art and creative expression. With a unique energy and focus on art of all mediums, the space brings together a wide array of artist and hosts events for the creative minds of Denver.

General hours are noon to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Celebrate women's history at the Molly Brown House Museum.

Within a historic house, preserved by a group of Denver citizens back in 1970, the Molly Brown House Museum is a step into the time of Victorian mansions. Once the home of Margaret Brown, a wealthy and well-traveled woman, the space is now a time capsule for modern Denverites to explore. Among other adventures, Brown is also known as a survivor of the infamous Titanic. Her firsthand account can be explored alongside other information about the historic voyage.

General hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday.

Located in the Art District on Santa Fe, Museo de las Américas has been a cultural landmark for more than thirty years. Winner of a Best of Denver award for Best Museum for Locals, this space is dedicated to preserving and educating visitors about the vibrant Latin American arts, both ancient and contemporary.

General hours are noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.

The Museum for Black Girls
500 16th Street Mall, #262, Denver, CO 80202

Founded in 2019, the Museum for Black Girls is an immersive experience that showcases and honors the culture and heritage of Black women. Filled to the brim with art made by and about Black women, the museum is a textural and colorful experience that also does important work for the culture of Denver. A mix of physical and digital interactive displays provides a unique and lasting experience for all ages.

General hours are noon to 5 p.m. (half-price admission) on Wednesday, noon to 5 p.m. on Thursday, noon to 6 p.m. on Friday, noon to 7 p.m. on Saturday, and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Wings Over the Rockies is worth the trip.

Wings Over the Rockies Air and Space Museum
7711 East Academy Boulevard
Wings Over the Rockies provides a tour through past, present and future aviation, with aircraft in all shapes and sizes. Founded in 1994, this collection of more than fifty aircraft is an educational and interactive experience, complete with flight simulators.

General hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
