Gather together, festivarians! The eighteenth annual Folks Festival takes place in Lyons this weekend at the Planet Bluegrass Ranch (500 West Main Street, Lyons). Planet Bluegrass is well-known for its sustainability efforts, which means, among other things, that you won’t have to pitch your outside food or drink at the door. So load up the picnic basket and bring the whole family (kids under twelve are free with a paying adult). Seasoned attendees also know to bring their river gear for a little natural A/C in the St. Vrain. This year’s musical lineup promises to deliver tried-and-true folkers (Greg Brown, Dar Williams, Patty Griffin, Nanci Griffith) as well as new kids on the block (KT Tunstall, Josh Ritter, and last year’s showcase showdown champion, Sarah Sample), from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day of the three-day jam — the exception being tomorrow’s MoonGrass, when Stephen Kellogg & the Sixers will take the Wildflower Pavilion stage at 11:15 p.m. Single-day tickets ($45), three-day festival passes ($105), camping passes ($45 per person) and MoonGrass tickets ($10) can be purchased online at http://shop.bluegrass.com or by calling 1-800-624-2422.
