People don’t typically associate mid-century modern architecture with Historic Denver, the city’s preeminent preservation advocacy group, but they should. “We want to educate our members about mid-century modern by highlighting its importance, so we’re focusing on it more and more as the buildings become fifty years old and older,” explains Historic Denver spokeswoman Heather Quiroga.

Part of that campaign has been the Summer of Modernism series, and its latest event is tonight’s Mistology, which, according to Quiroga, promises to be “a fabulous vintage cocktail lecture and tasting — a great party in a great place, the SugarCube. It will be held in one of the big, raw lofts there, a terrific space with killer views of the mall and downtown.” The evening is being underwritten by Canadian Mist, a whiskey maker that puts on these kinds of events across the country to benefit a variety of causes.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and the program begins at 6, at 1555 Blake Street. Entry is free for Summer of Modernism passport holders and $15 for the 21-and-over general public. For tickets, call 1-800-268-7266.
