In the category of "so strange it has to be true," Vodka 14 has opened an ice bar at Vail Cascade Resort, a ski-in, ski-out resort at Chair 20 on the far west side of Vail. The ice bar is sculpted from actual ice and positioned with views of Chair 20 and the ski area. Vodka 14 vodka is a Colorado-based company that makes vodka from certified organic grains and distills the product in Idaho at the base of the Tetons.

The ice bar will be open every Friday and Saturday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Each week, new vodka infusions and cocktails will be served. The ice bar features three separate diffusers, and serves shots of vodka actual ice glasses.

Shots of cold vodka in an ice glass, in between skiing the bowls at Vail? It should make for some memorable Facebook pics, at the least. Just don't post 'em after taking a fake sick day to indulge your powder passion.
