Board games can be a lot of fun, but unless you have a bunch of friends with identical schedules and equally geeky taste in pastimes, it can be hard to get enough people together for a good game. Luckily, the Internet can be used to bring people together for more than just casual sex hook-ups. Right here in Denver there are several board gaming groups that meet on a regular basis.

The Denver Games group meets every Tuesday at 5 p.m. in the café of the Borders store across from Park Meadows mall, at I-25 and County Line Road.

The Boardgames Meetup Group meets twice a month. The next meeting is August 20 at the Borders store in the new Northfield mall in Stapleton, at 8230-1370 East 49th Avenue. The fun starts at 5:30 p.m. and goes until 9 p.m. You can bring your own games if there is something specific you want to play, or just join in the multitude of games they already have.

The Board Game Junkies meet the second and fourth Friday of every month at Scooter Joe’s, 726 Lincoln Street in Denver, and the third Friday of every month at the Broomfield Borders store, 1 West Flatiron Crossing Drive. The group meets at 6:30 p.m. The calendar on their site lists the monthly theme.

Finally, BoardGameGeek is a good resource for information on board games, card games and similar pursuits. – Cory Casciato
