When Trudy Gonzalez opened 5th Sun Cafe & Lounge on Speer and Federal Boulevards this winter, she had all the pieces for the cafe part of her name: an espresso machine and a bevy of breakfast and lunch items.

But “lounge” was a misnomer because she didn’t have a liquor license — until now.

Gonzalez secured her ability to serve alcohol at the eatery last week, which means that in addition to mole, green chile and the rest of what the owner calls “healthy Mexican food,” the place started serving up beer, wine and spirits over the weekend.

Cheers.
