For 28 years Amici’s Pizzeria has served up pizza and basic, red-sauce Italian to north Denver neighbors from its strip-mall location at 5330 Sheridan Boulevard. But come January 2009, it’ll have a brand-new address — in the old Gemini Restaurant space at 4300 Wadsworth Boulevard.
Gemini, which managed to make it through several decades with its very retro ’70s decor intact, closed last year, taking thirty years of memories and its amazing cinnamon house tea with it. Amici’s renovators recently tore down the buildings tall sloped roof; they’ll redo the entire space before the restaurant moves in early next year.
But when the new, improved Amici’s makes its debut, it will be with the same menu it’s been serving for close to three decades, in a new building that promises to bring the restaurant into the twenty-first century. — Aubrey Shoe
