Yes, the Great American Beer Festival starts tonight, and although tickets sold out long ago, there are plenty of other beery events around town. Tonight’s Barleywine Fest, for example. Don’t be fooled by the name: Barleywine is actually a sweet and very strong type of ale originating in England in the nineteenth century. There are several varieties, ranging from little to no hops — but all are very high in alcohol content.
