Breckenridge Brewing plans to roll out its second canned beer, Lucky U IPA, by the end of the month, adding it to Avalanche Ale, which it began canning last year.
“We got the cans on Friday,” says Breckenridge brewmaster Todd Usry. “Distribution will be limited to begin with, just Colorado and a couple of other select markets.”
Breckenridge first began brewing Lucky U in 2009, dedicating the beer to the turn-of-the-century Tivoli Union Brewing Company, which used to occupy what is now the Tivoli student union on the Auraria campus; Tivoli Union made a beer with a similar name.
A portion of the sales from Lucky U are donated to the Tivoli Preservation Foundation, which pays for upkeep to the building, Usry says.
