In December 2011,  Jerry Feld sold Club 404 — the bar he’d bought six decades before, when he was too young to even have a liquor license. But since then, the spot at 404 Broadway has seen some tough times. Initially it was turned into the Denver Wheel Club 404, a bike-oriented bar, and when that failed to get rolling, in January 2013 it was taken over by Kevin Geraghty, who turned it into a version of Brendan’s Pub, his live-music club that was such a hit when it was on Market Street in LoDo. But that concept was a bust, too.

Now the building has been seized by the State of Colorado for nonpayment of taxes. That’s a sad end for the 404, once one of Denver’s most beloved dives.
