At Old Major, it’s pork for dinner and chicken for lunch — at least ever since chef-owner Justin Brunson launched Royal Rooster to feed fried-chicken sandwiches to the Highland midday crowd. But if poultry doesn’t please you, Brunson is happy to announce that the Rooster is now serving burgers, too.

From 11 a..m. to 2 p.m. weekdays, you can grab an All American ($8) burger, which wedges a four-ounce patty, American cheese, onions, lettuce and tomato into a squishy bun — with a generous load of special sauce, to boot. Ten bucks will get you the Roadside, with a second quarter-pound patty, pickles and caramelized onions.

These are burgers for purists, so don’t expect over-the-top add-ons or gourmet ingredients — just the same level of quality Old Major customers have come to expect. Oh, and don’t forget to order a side of fries, which have been on the menu since Royal Rooster launched in late November.
