$20,000

The Colorado Wine Industry Development Board has just announced its fourth restaurant recognition program, to single out restaurants that promote Colorado wine. Last year’s winners were Juicy Lucy’s (the original, not the second spot in Cherry Creek), the Mercury Cafe and Restaurant Six89 in Carbondale.

For this year’s program, awards will be given to restaurants for “best Colorado wines by the glass,” “best Colorado wines by the bottle”  and ‘best Colorado food and wine pairing.” Each winning restaurant will receive $1,000 at a February 2 awards ceremony.

It’s always good to support local, which is getting easier now that Colorado has more than  75 wineries. The deadline to enter this year’s competition is January 9; find more details on the competition page, where you can also sign up. –Tyler Nemkov
