I haven’t had the chance to visit Crabtree Brewing, which started four years ago as Greeley’s first microbrewery, so I was happy last week when I saw a six-pack of their Boxcar Brown at Argonaut (their beer isn’t widely available outside of northern Colorado).

Any excuse to drink a new beer, right?

A sold brown, Boxcar reminded me of the first time I tried Tommyknocker’s Nut Brown about fifteen years ago. Slightly sweet and caramel-tasting, Boxcar is a smooth, if somewhat standard brown. It’s very drinkable, though, and gives me a reason to stop in Greeley some day.
