The Denver Diner has been an institution for decades, one of the few 24/7 spots around, a hang-out for people coming off work or a night of partying. But the place has been closed since October 12, after an early-morning fire cleared the room. The Denver Diner is still wrapped up tight, but there are signs that the joint will be sticking around for decades to come — although perhaps with a new look.

The windows are now covered in paper, so you can’t see what’s going on inside — the morning after the fire, half-eaten meals were still on the tables and the only hint of the future was a quickly scrawled announcement on the door (above). But today there’s a promising message on the iconic sign, noting that the Denver Diner is remodeling a promising a “Grand Re-Opening Coming Soon.”
