It’s that time of year again: time to look back over the last three-sixty-five. It’s been a good year, a long year, a strange year. From lunching in Manhattan to getting weird during the DNC to a magical meal at Beatrice & Woodsley (above) to the financial collapse, there’s been no lack of excitement, no lack of grand backgrounds for food both fair and foul.

And my Cafe piece this week is all about reminiscences — about collecting my thoughts and cataloging yet another year of eating.

Next week, I’ll be right back at it, reviewing restaurants, reporting the news, separating the good guys from the bad and the facts from the rumors. But right now, I want to take a moment to see how far we’ve come — and remember what we saw along the way.

If you have any favorite food moments from 2008, I’d love to hear about them; just post a comment below.

Will you step up to support Westword this year?
