A new moon’s rising over Denver’s bar scene with the Luna Hotel, a super-chic boutique inn that just opened in the heart of LoDo. Saunter up to the stylish street-level bar for some out-of-this-world high-end cocktail creativity, including the signature Luna-Tic, which comprises a hush-hush mix of fresh juices and liqueurs (I tried to get them to spill the beans, but these guys are more secretive than NASA). The fun part’s no secret, though: Once the super-confidential mix is made, the bartender drops a big chunk of lime-flavored cotton candy into the martini glass, where it dissolves faster than a shooting star. Just one of these sugary-sweet, crazy cocktails ($9) is bound to fulfill you candy quotient for the day — so for your second round, might I suggest a Ginger Collins or Raspberry Kamikaze? The bar’s ultra-sleek accents and sexy lighting put the focus on style and impeccable service, and that theme continues upstairs in the nineteen mod hotel rooms. You can also head downstairs, to the elegant restaurant Flow, where you can dine on Duy Pham’s innovative cuisine in one of those draped-off back booths. Or grab a Euro-style snack at Velocity Coffee and Crepes, right off the lobby. Luna definitely raises the bar for urban lounges: Welcome to planet Denver.
