Since a new owner took over a few months ago, El Tejado — one of our favorite Mexican joints in town, and a perennial winner in the Best of Denver — has been going through a lot of changes. The dining room of the restaurant at 2651 South Broadway is getting a new, faux-stone look, and the bar is completely under wraps. So, for that matter, is any beer and liquor: For the next few days, at least, El Tejado will be dry — but it will still be serving even as the transforming continues.

Fortunately, the changes have not yet affected the menu — which features one of the town’s best green chiles — or the friendly service.
