We previously announced that international coffee chain Espresso Americano would open its first U.S. location in the Landmark development in the DTC. Now it looks like two of the cafes were in a race — and another location opened first. Espresso Americano opened its first spot today in the nearby Village Plaza Shopping Center, with the second to follow soon.

Espresso Americano is based in Honduras and operates 165 company-owned stores in that country as well as Panama, Costa Rica and Nicaragua. The company started out as a coffee grower 80 years ago and still grows 80 percent of its own coffee. Its first cafe opened in 1994. In addition espresso beverages and drip coffee, the cafe offers a small selection of breakfast and lunch items, desserts and house-made granitas.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony to commemorate the opening with company CEO Eduardo Kafati will take place today at 3 p.m. Espresso Americano is open from 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
