Denver has a chill new dessert bar in the Ballpark Neighborhood: the Inventing Room opened on Saturday with a range of liquid-nitrogen ice cream flavors and other unique treats from chef Ian Kleinman, the city’s answer to Willy Wonka. The shop is closed Mondays, but you can indulge your inner child with a choice of more than a dozen different desserts (all under $5) Tuesday through Sunday from noon to 8 p.m. Photographer Danielle Lirette skated in to capture the scenes from the grand opening, where clouds of smoke billowed from bowls of liquid nitrogen and strands of cotton candy drifted through the air. For more photos, see our complete slideshow.

The Inventing Room can also be booked for private parties – for kids and adults – from 10 a.m. to noon or 8 to 10 p.m. See the shop’s website for details.
