Smashburger is building up to that big holiday — National Burger Day, on May 28 — with a series of specials and giveaways.

The search for the biggest burger fan is already under way: Send a YouTube video or picture illustrating your love of what Jason Sheehan dubbed Smashburger’s “meat candy” to fans@smashburger.com; the winner gets free Smashburger for a year.

And today through May 13, you’ll get free Smashfries with the purchase of a Smashburger — if you’ve registered for the special offers at www.smashburger.com. That’s where you can also learn about other deals this month from the homegrown burger chain.
