Gustavo Arellano, the author of Ask a Mexican, is an expert on many topics — including the evolution of Mexican restaurants in this country. And before his recent visit to Denver, he’d never before encountered what we consider a mainstay in this city: the Mexican hamburger.

Now Gustavo Arellano has weighed in on what he considers America’s Greatest Mexican Meal, the “Holy Grail of Mexican-American cookery.”

And where did he first get a taste of this grail? At Bubba Chino’s, that offshoot of Chubby’s. And Arellano not only dishes on the dish, but also on some of the family troubles — which sound hotter than the green chile smothering this Mexican hamburger.
