$20,000

Late last week, the big banner went up on the Sugar House, Scottie Ewing’s controversial club at 1395 West Alameda Avenue, proclaiming that as of June 1, it would be serving “Denver’s sexiest lunch.”

What, a special on New York strip? Salad, hold the dressing?

The promotion certainly caught the attention of the Athmar Park neighborhood group, which sent a note to Awilda Marquez, head of the Denver Division of Excise and Licenses: “On Friday, May 29, 2009, the business had two young women dressed in very short (just skirting their bums, if you’ll pardon the pun) school girl outfits with lots of leg and bust exposed and carrying signs with
messages having to do with the lunch and their busty something or another. The women were outside the establishment with their signs at 2:15pm, 3:15pm, 5pm and 6pm. Anyway, I’m wondering where the line between adult entertainment and a license from Excise and Licenses crosses — is this type of advertising activity and whatever a ‘Sexiext Lunch’ may be allowed under the license this business currently holds?”

Apparently so: The sign is still up.
