Craving a Philly cheesesteak? A big salad?
Lenny’s Sub Shop opened late last week at 726 Lincoln Street, in the spot that formerly housed Scooter Joe’s. It’s a link in a small chain that prides itself on great customer service and large portions, according to owner Dave Saporta. A fifteen-inch Philly will cost you less than ten bucks, for example, and Lenny’s will make any sandwich into a salad, too.
Saporta, a New York City transplant who owned a restaurant there and also worked on Wall Street, offers this run-down on Lenny’s: “Our first location opened December 16 on 3299 South Broadway, then another at 98 Wadsworth Boulevard in Lakewood and the third one three days ago. The franchise is based out of Memphis, where the other owner, Nathan Turner, is from.”
And the partners have ambitious goals for Lenny’s in
Colorado. They’re “going to be doing forty stores in the next six years,” Saporta says. “We have exclusive rights to the franchise in Colorado. That
was our emphasis when we started the whole process about two years
ago.”
What’s next? A spot at Iliff and Havana, where they’re currently
negotiating a lease. “We have an aggressive time table to open one
store every thirteen weeks,” he adds. “We’re hoping for one in Silverthorne in the
next eight to twelve months.”
Fifteen-inch subs? Forty stores in six years? That’s a lot of Lenny.
