Denver’s first Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon takes to the streets on Sunday, October 17. The race web site offers tips on where spectators can watch the sold-out event — but we have a better idea than going to a park “oasis”:
Head directly to the old First Avenue Hotel, now home to Sketch and El Diablo. Sketch opens at 6 a.m. Sunday, El Diablo at 7 a.m., which means you have plenty of time to grab a drink and a seat along First Avenue by Broadway — which happens to be mile 22 of the race course.
As an added perk, owner Jesse Morreale promises to start El Diablo’s regular happy hour deals from the moment the doors open at 7 a.m., which means you can wash down your breakfast tacos with $5 house margs, $2.50 Tecates, tequila shots for $4-5, and much, more more.
On your mark, get set…
