As longtime Colfax staples like Lion’s Lair and Pete’s Kitchen continue to struggle during the ongoing BRT construction project, some beloved spots have already closed.
In June, one of our favorite bars, Middleman, shuttered after seven years in business. Since then, the doors to the space have remained locked, though a yet-to-be-announced new owner is still planning to reopen it as a new neighborhood bar.
Now, the building’s other tenant has announced its upcoming closure. “In disappointing news, Q House will be closing its doors after seven years of serving our brand of modern Chinese cuisine to our friends and neighbors in East Colfax and from all around greater Denver,” the restaurant announced via an Instagram post on September 13. It plans to shutter after service on October 4.
Q House, located at 3421 East Colfax Avenue, opened in 2018 and was impressive from the start. Helmed by chef/owner Christopher Lin, a Momofuku alum, it has racked up many accolades during its run, including a 2019 James Beard nomination for Best New Restaurant.

When Michelin released its first Colorado guide in 2023, Q House landed on the recommended list, a status it has maintained since — even in the just-announced 2025 guide, despite its impending closure. But soon, Q House will be no more, leaving us longing for favorites like its wok-fried cheung fun, crispy fried chicken wings, and beef tongue and tripe with chile oil.
Q House has not responded to a request for comment about the closure, but fans still have time to visit before it says farewell.
Q House is located at 3421 East Colfax Avenue and will be open regular hours, 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday, until October 4. Visit qhousedenver.com for more information and reservations.
