The restaurant scene in northwest Denver is heating up, and while some longtime residents lament the loss of old-school restaurants, it’s impossible to see the opening of Brazen as anything but a bonus. After all, owner Christopher Sargent turned a strip-mall space formerly occupied by a former yogurt shop into a place that’s warm and sensuous, with equal parts urban sophistication and DIY charm. Veteran chef Lance Barto (Strings, Central Bar & Bistro), who grew up not far from here, is in the kitchen, overseeing what Sargent calls “downtown food and service in a neighborhood setting.” Photographer Danielle Lirette stopped by Brazen a week after it opened to see what was cooking; keep reading for a taste.
