There have been some big changes — good and bad — in the LoHi restaurant scene recently. The area’s hottest spots are chef Johnny Curiel’s pair of Michelin-starred Mexican eateries, Alma Fonda Fina and Mezcaleria Alma right next door, which opened less than a year ago. Around the corner, there have been a couple of swap-outs at 1575 Boulder Street, which was Lola, then the Post, and is now another Mexican restaurant, Teocalli Cocina.
The latest news: Teocalli Cocina’s neighbor, Dimestore Delibar, also at 1575 Boulder Street, is shuttering after service on October 11. The spot, known for its Dimeroll sandwiches, opened in late 2019, taking over the space previously occupied by Low Country Kitchen. A kitschy space with a ’70s vibe, this sandwich shop also serves solid cocktails and small plates, and has antiques and oddities strewn throughout, plus an aisle of pantry staples and fun finds.

During the pandemic shutdown, it became more than a restaurant for those in the neighborhood, stocking up on necessities like toilet paper and making bottled cocktails that customers could pick up along with their sandwiches.
“Thank you all for six amazing years,” reads a graphic posted on social media announcing news of the closure. Through October 11, it’s also offering the 86 Dimestore Delibar All Day Happy Hour. Help the owners drink up the bar’s stock with $8 cocktails and $6 well highballs, beer and wine.
And, of course, order up one more Dimeroll, because you can find a lot of delicious sandwiches in town, but none quite like those.
