Mark Antonation is eating at soul-food restaurants for this month’s Ethniche, and his travels recently took him to Kirk’s Soul Kitchen in Aurora, where the restaurant occupies the former home of a payday loan. And given the setting, Kirk’s serves up some unusual stories along with authentic soul food. Says Joshua:
One time I went there right at opening and it took FOREVER to get my food, and I was like, “What’s going on, I’m only the third person in line?” And the lady said, “Yeah, sorry, we found a dead guy in back.” And I was all, “Oh, yeah, okay.” Great food! Best collard greens in Colorado!
What’s the most unusual experience you’ve had at a local restaurant?
