It’s American Craft Beer Week, a fact you cannot miss in bars across town — or on this blog, where we’ve been shamelessly touting the introduction of Big Shikes, as well as hyping other beery events around town. But apparently there can never be enough beer for aerofan, who posted this on our culinary calendar:

Why would you include so many functions that are WINE pairing/tasting events on the calendar for American Craft BEER week?

? Perhaps because man cannot live on (liquid) bread alone?

We’re not just talking about Big Shikes, of course. Patrick Langlois just weighed in on Funky Cougar, eliciting this comment from mantonat:

$50,000

Too many American craft brewers have jumped into the sour beer market without understanding how to get nuanced flavor. Many of the best Belgian originals are aged and blended so that you don’t end up with one-note beers. Good to hear that Bull & Bush got it right.

By the way, Bull & Bush won the Best Brewpub title in the Best of Denver 2011. For more beery events, check out our online Food & Drink listings — and watch Cafe Society for updates.
