Yesterday’s picture in the Denver Post real estate section of the new Curt Fentress architecture firm headquarters/Watermark sales office, in the historic Chittenden Mansion on West Fourth Avenue just off Broadway, brought back memories of a much earlier attempt to label the Baker neighborhood as one of Denver’s hippest.
Close to thirty years ago, this lovely, circa 1901 building, housed Inches, a fushiony, noodle-bowly restaurant that was way ahead of its time in both concept and location. Inches didn’t last long, but it’s good to see that its former home is once again being used — although we wouldn’t mind seeing the return of Inches in the definitely now-hip Baker neighborhood.
