$25,000

The Berkeley neighborhood’s historic watering hole, the Rosa Mia Inn, which opened in 1966, recently sold and will reopen as the Nip & Sip Neighborhood Lounge. The new ownership group includes J.D. Dossett, Margaret Moore and Leigh Jones — of Jonesy’s Eatbar fame, who also runs the Horseshoe Lounge, Inga’s Alpine Lounge and the Bar Car. Dossett, who was the proprietor at the Centennial Tavern, which occupied the Jonesy’s space in Uptown for several months before the space finally closed, will serve as the onsite owner/proprietor at the new Nip & Sip.

Dossett says he expects the Nip & Sip to open in about a week with only a few cosmetic changes, since the building is structurally sound after recent improvements by he previous owners. “It’s a great neighborhood location with a nice sense of community, and we plan to keep that feeling,” Dossett adds.

The group will focus on the beverage aspect of the operation, with plenty of Colorado products behind the bar.

In addition to closing the Jonesy’s/Centennial space, the group also recently closed the Bar Car’s food operation, which was run by Denver Deep Dish, in order to focus more on bar business. Denver Deep Dish, under owner Jason McGovern, is still going strong in its new location on West 38th Avenue.
