The space at 1434 Blake Street has been home to many concepts over the past fifteen years. Originally the legendary hipster hang-out City Spirit, which closed in 1997, it then became Andrew’s Pub, followed by Bender’s Sausage Haus, The Lure, SportsBook, PreGame Sports Bar & Grill, the Blake, Kraine Station and, most recently, Full Steam Tavern — which shuttered in November.
Now the owners of Stoney’s Bar & Grill have bought the place and will reopen it as Stoney’s Full Steam Tavern later this month.

The reincarnated bar and restaurant will be sports-focused, with 25 TVs and two bars. The sports bar concept has tanked before in this space — but it’s going strong at the original Stoney’s on Lincoln. And like that bar, Stoney’s Full Steam will be partnering with alumni groups for game-watching parties. The food will also resemble the fare at Stoney’s, although the owners plan to add more “upscale” options to the menu to cater to the downtown scene.
Stoney’s Full Steam could open before Christmas, depending on whether the city plays naughty or nice with pending paperwork. Check the Facebook page for updates.
