The challenges facing local news organizations are very real. That's why reader support matters more than ever. If you believe independent journalism matters, make a contribution today and help us reach our summer fundraising goal of $25,000 by August 9.
If you’re heading up to Copper Mountain to take advantage of the foot and a half or so of snow that has fallen on the ski area in the past 24 hours, you might want to make time in all that powder thrashing for a powdered doughnut.
After three months of planning and construction, Sugar Lips Mini Donuts, a Denver-based doughnut trailer, opened its Copper storefront at 275 Ten Mile Circle over the weekend.
“When we opened on Saturday night, we had, like, twenty little kids banging on the door to get in,” says owner Jasmine Listou. “And we had a line out the door for about three hours. It was a pretty nice welcome.”
The shop features mini-doughnuts in addition to hot chocolate, coffee, tea, chocolate milk and sodas. And once the weather gets warmer, that menu will expand. “In the summer, we’ll add back in shaved ice and ice cream,” Listou promises.
Right now, Sugar Lips is open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
