Chef/restaurateur Troy Guard made a big splash with the opening of Mister Tuna in RiNo’s Industry building last week, but not so far away, the second outpost of TAG Burger Bar quietly grilled its last burger. The neighborhood eatery at 3759 Lipan Street closed on Sunday, July 17, after taking over where Sunnyside Burger Bar left off at the end of 2015.
Guard plans to reopen the burger bar early next year in a considerably more desirable location, at 3948 West 32nd Avenue — across the street from Solitaire and in the same building as Blue Pan Pizza in West Highland.
Here’s the message from the TAG Burger Bar Facebook page:
TAG Burger Bar Highlands has closed its doors.
THANK YOU to all of our wonderful guests! We look forward to hosting you at TAG Burger Bar at 12th and Madison or one of our other TAG Restaurant Group concepts in the future.
Will you step up to support Westword this year?
We’re aiming to raise $50,000 by December 31, so we can continue covering what matters most to this community. If Westword matters to you, please take action and contribute today, so when news happens, our reporters can be there.
The original TAG Burger Bar opened in 1222 Madison Street in 2012 as a concept change from Guard’s first venture, the Madison Street Grill, at that address.
