With Denver Beer Fest under way, the city is overflowing with beery events. Tonight at 6:30 p.m., Avery Brewery is sponsoring a Beers, Brats & Burlesque: Tastings & Tassels extravaganza at Lannie’s Clocktower Cabaret, 1601 Arapahoe Street; while Avery experts guide you through a full selection of their beers, you can enjoy the flirtatious dancing of the Clocktower Clockettes, plus brats and slaw, drinking songs and audience giveaways. Tickets are $22 and include ten beers and food; call 303-293-0075 or visit www.lannies.com.

Tomorrow, Jax at 1539 17th Street in LoDo will host a Jax Beer Dinner with a four-course menu that pairs seafood with Avery Brewing beers; call 303-292-5767 for more info.

On Wednesday, September 23, the always-popular Boulder County Brews Cruise will take passengers on a daylong tour of breweries ranging from Boulder Beer to Left Hand and Oskar Blues. The trip is $55; find more information at www.lefthandbrewing.com.

For a slightly more sedate evening, head to the Governor’s Mansion at 400 East Eighth Avenue at 5 p.m. Steprember 23 for Pints & Bites, an event hosted by First Lady Jeannie Ritter that will feature craft beer and food pairings and raise funds for the preservation of the mansion; e-mail grpfund@yahoo.com to RSVP.

Will you step up to support Westword this year?

We’re aiming to raise $50,000 by December 31, so we can continue covering what matters most to this community. If Westword matters to you, please take action and contribute today, so when news happens, our reporters can be there.

$50,000

Also on September 23, Culinary School of the Rockies at 637 South Broadway in Boulder will host Craft Beer: Cooking & Pairing. The class fee is $95; call 303-494-7988 for more information.

If you’d rather have someone else do the cooking, on September 23 the Gold Medal Beer Dinner will pair five of the nation’s most progressive breweries and their brewmasters with fine food at the Kitchen [Upstairs], at 1039 Pearl Street in Boulder, 303-544-5973. That same night, Baker Street Pub & Grill‘s DTC location, at 8101 East Belleview Avenue, will host the Deschutes Brewery Beer Dinner, pairing good with five hand-crafted beers; call 303-577-2790.

And all this before the Great American Beer Festival kicks off on Thursday, September 24. For many, many more culinary events — some with beer, some without — consult our online calendar.
