As we anticipate the arrival of Colorado’s first Trader Joe’s, the California-based grocer with a cult-like following that’s allegedly building its first Colorado store somewhere in Boulder’s Twenty Ninth Street (three more Trader Joe’s stores are rumored for Denver), we thought we’d give you a taste of what we’re currently craving from the Trader Joe shelves. We’ll spotlight a Trader Joe’s product once a week that makes us wistful for April 1, 2012, the day that, according to documents filed, the market says it will begin “transacting business or conducting activities.”
Next up: Old Fashioned Cinnamon Grahams. Snack-y little cookies are stacked by the bucket in Trader Joe’s, and come opening day in Colorado, we’ll be making a beeline for the Old Fashioned Cinnamon Grahams, likely making a spectacle of ourselves by tearing into the box and cramming our face full of the crackers on the spot. Why? Because each fat, jagged-edged and dense cracker is spackled with heaps of cinnamon-sugar and so graham-y it begins to taste faintly like molasses. They crack and crumble pleasantly between the teeth and are perfect for making s’mores or slathered with Nutella. But even plain, we’ll polish off half a box in one sitting. Because the spice-laced sweet cookie-like crackers are addictive…and we can never stop at just one.
Here’s what else we’d like to see grace the Colorado shelves of Trader Joe’s:
