The Black Cat has a sibling: Bramble & Hare, which opened in the summer of 2012 right next door to the Cat, which chef Eric Skokan opened in 2006. And like Black Cat, this more casual, 24-seat cafe features produce from Skokan’s multi-acre farm near Niwot. "Being farm-to-table is idealistic and wonderful, but it's hard to do it for people who can only afford it on special occasions,” says Skokan. The goal at his new place, he explains, is to make this “a restaurant that's accessible to everyone, a great everyday restaurant that people can come back to on a regular basis." To that end, Bramble & Hare, which serves lunch and dinner and also features late-night kitchen hours, offers a nightly prix fixe dinner based on what’s fresh that day and includes an appetizer, main dish and choice of dessert.
