What started out as a simple Boulder bagelry in May 2017 rapidly expanded to a trio of cafes by November 2018, with locations added in Lowry and at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. The centerpiece of all three is the Montreal-style bagel — a bit smaller than its NYC-style cousin, topped only by poppy or sesame seeds and baked in a wood-fired oven — but the remainder of the Woodgrain menus reflect varying degrees of complexity. The Boulder and Lowry outposts boast heartier fare, such of-the-moment offerings as avocado toast, poutine, salads and sandwiches, while the Anschutz location sticks to basic breakfast burritos and sandwiches.
