Many of Denver’s old red-sauce joints have dried up, but Vincenza’s revived the tradition when it opened in Wheat Ridge close to a decade ago. The emphasis here is on authentic Italian fare – whether the breads and cookies sold out of the counter up front, or the fried polenta on the breakfast menu, or the big sandwiches offered at lunch. The portions are big, the tastes even bigger – and everything is served with a side of sass by the experienced waitstaff. Vincenza’s could also have the most unusual green chile in town.
