Marijuana grown by Bloom County, a popular wholesale grower in Colorado, has been flagged by state regulators for potential mold contamination.
According to a November 14 health and safety notice from the Colorado Marijuana Enforcement Division, seven different harvest batches from RR Services, LLC, which does business as Bloom County, were found to have unsafe levels of aspergillius, a specific type of mold tested for by regulators, as well as other forms of mold and yeast. The recalled marijuana was sold at 34 dispensaries across Colorado between March 29 and August 24 of this year, according to the MED.
Both medical and recreational marijuana harvests were included in the recall. The MED did not provide the names of the strains that were flagged, but included Bloom's medical and recreational growing license numbers printed on all retail packaging: 403-01619 (medical) and 403R-00139 (recreational).
"Individuals who possess this affected product should destroy it or return it to the store from which it was purchased for proper disposal. Individuals who experience adverse health effects after consuming the affected product should seek medical attention immediately and report the event to the MED by submitting an MED Reporting Form," the safety notice says.
The MED included a list of 34 dispensaries that stocked the recalled Bloom marijuana, 21 of which are in the Denver-Boulder area.
This is the ninth marijauna recall issued by the MED in 2024. All but two have been for mold and yeast.
Bloom County has not responded to a request for comment.
