Should I Really Smoke Out of a Coffee Mug Pipe?

You definitely shouldn't put these pieces in the dishwasher.

Dear Stoner: You know those stupid cereal bowls and coffee mugs that are also pipes? People always tell me I should buy one — God forbid a man enjoys weed and cartoons on the weekend — and my mother-in-law actually bought one for me. Can I really smoke out of this thing without getting ash and black resin in my coffee?

Dear Pink Tony Club: First things first. Your mother-in-law sounds pretty bad ass, and you should cherish any relative who supports a weed-and-cartoons habit. It's like when my aunt buys me dinosaur socks for Christmas, but even cooler and more accepting.

Most smokeable coffee mugs and cereal bowls are sold online or at quirky gift shops, and are more of a novelty piece than something to smoke out of regularly.
Most of the smokeable coffee mugs and cereal bowls I've seen are sold at quirky record stores or places like Spencer's, and they're much more of a gag gift or novelty piece than something you'd smoke out of regularly. You definitely can't put these pieces in the dishwasher, and hand-washing would be a pain. (And who wants to ingest milk between tokes, anyway?) Unless your mom-in-law is a heady stoner and bought you an incognito, travel-friendly bong disguised as a coffee cup, like a Puffco Cupsy, then you're better off keeping this thing in the cupboard — until she visits, of course. Don't be rude.
