The latest release from 3Two may have been recorded in this decade, but with songs like "Backspin," which features a throwback robot voice and laser-beam sound effects perfect for breakin', and "Roll Bounce," an ode to Skate City, where preteens learned to show out, the rapper pays homage to the original funk and atmosphere of '80s and '90s hip-hop. The MC's flow is more on the melodic side, with punchlines peppering tracks like "War Machine," which is dedicated to Iron Man's best superhero friend. Made popular in Marvel Comics, War Machine becomes 3Two's alter ego on wax as he takes on rival MCs and promises to get his rescue on. Overall, Prix Fixe is an easy and entertaining listen for old and new heads alike.
