Just finished screening Fear Before‘s new video for “Fear Before Doesn’t Listen to People Who Don’t Like Them.” If you haven’t seen it yet, take a gander above. Directed by Bryan Schlam, the highly stylized clip recalls a number of similar boiler-plate alt rock performance videos from the early ‘to mid 90s, with frontman David Marion and his soot-smeared colleagues serving as the focal point, thrashing about while inhabiting the shadows of a non-descript squat, engulfed in the beams of light pouring through slat-covered the windows. Although we’ve all seen videos like this before, the clip somehow manages to enhance the song — which, like the other tunes on the act’s latest self-titled effort, represent Fear Before’s finest work to date, hands down — rather than detracting from it.
