Summer is one of the best times for live music in Denver, whether you're heading to a show at Red Rocks or to one of the many music festivals happening in town or in the mountains. And Westword is happy to get in on the action with our members concerts, with our first of the summer showcasing Dzirae Gold, the jazz singer who won a 2025 Best of Denver award for Best Debut Album.
Gold's vocals are some of the best in the scene, as you'll hear in Right on Time, her first solo album; they carry the freeing spirit that summer brings. There's a reason she's been dubbed Denver's Soul Queen, and Westword members can discover why at our office on Friday, July 18. (While the show was originally slated for the day before, it has been rescheduled because of the No Kings protest on July 17, which will start just a block up from the office at the Colorado State Capitol.)

Doors will open at 1278 Lincoln Street at 6 p.m. July 18, with the performance starting at 6:30 p.m. That will be followed at 7 p.m. by a Q&A with Gold and me (music editor Emily Ferguson), and members will have a chance to ask any burning questions they have for the singer, who blends her operatic training with her love of jazz, blues, funk and disco.

Our concert series, which kicked off this year with a performance from Blankslate in April, followed by DNA Picasso and Dominique Christina in May, is meant to spotlight local musicians in an intimate setting so that members can really soak up the sound and become familiar with the performer.  It's a free and exciting way to experience the extensive talent found in the Denver music scene, with each concert featuring a different genre.

To attend the show, become a Westword member and then be on the lookout for an email invitation to the concert. After you RSVP, you will receive a reminder the morning of the show. See you there!
