Bobby Walker has been playing professionally for close to four decades, and Git It feels like a document of his time touring around the States, Japan and Germany. In his whisky-soaked rasp, you can hear the miles he’s traveled on this mini-travelogue of the blues, from the funky blues of Sonny Boy Williamson’s “Good Mornin’ Little School Girl” to the jump blues of “Swang Thang” or the slow down home blues of “Mean Ol’ World.” He’s taken local veteran guitarists Jinx Jones and Jasco (of Mojambus) along for the ride as well as well as Bay Area guitarist Volker Strifler, who handles lead guitar duties on about half of the tracks. As Git It shows, whatever “it” is, Walker’s already got it.
