These guys aren’t exactly breaking new ground. And if you’re one of those people who have nothing good to say about the current state of music, and haven’t for the last decade, you’re not apt to like Buffalo Beard (due this Saturday, April 26, at the Larimer Lounge). But if you’re a little more forgiving and you like a nice melodic hook in your songs, this Colorado Springs-based outfit has the goods. Even though it’s only been around for about six months, Buffalo Beard has managed to write some impressively polished and catchy pop songs with surprisingly delicate emotional colorings. The glistening guitar sheens and insistent rhythms bring a sweetly melancholic flavor to the band’s overall tone, much like the Chills interpreted through the lens of the Shins.
