A clever collaborator with an ear for production, Japan’s Satoshi Tomiie has been blazing trails in the House world since “Tears,” his 1989 cooperative classic with Underground Solution. Tomiie’s upcoming two-CD mix, part of the NuBreed series on Global Underground Records, heralds darker, more maniacal grooves and demonstrates his talent for establishing new patterns of sound. The discs have been described as “threatening and sleazy,” with whiplash grooves, pulsing rhythms and a few surprises embedded in the beats.
